Story: Keeping up the Dream

Jane is a university student studying social science. Each time she is at home, she helped her mother with her fruit selling business along the road.

In school, they knew her as Mary dancer because she refused any premarital sexual relationship that come her way and that she is also a ballet dancer, that which is not common in her society. When her classmates found out she sells fruits with her mother, they laughed at her but she ignored them and was not affected by their attitude towards her.

Jane had a dream of dancing internationally where audience from all over the world would come and watch her dance. So she focused on that dream and ignored every discouragement around her. Her father had died when she was little and her mother had been her backbone till this point.

Jane made sure her dancing did not stand against her academics so she made her priorities straight. She was near top of her class and had plans to be at the top of her class before her final year.

So Jane kept her dreams going till her final year. On their graduation ceremony, it was announced that one of the graduating students has a presentation to give. Every student present anticipated for the presentation and wondered who it is going to be. They were amazed when Jane stepped in and danced in an elegant manner. There was a huge round of applause when she ended. The chairman of the occasion, a government official stood and announced that she would be performing at the government house in an occasion if she agreed to the offer. In amazement, she agreed. At the end of the ceremony, the same group of people that made jest of her came to her and congratulated her for the wonderful performance and also that she finished second in the class. From that performance, Jane went international.

Poem: Happy Day

Wow, it’s a new day And I have a lot to say Am so optimistic today Cos gone are the worries of yesterday All the grudges I lay Thinking of the upward way Excuses are now bygone Excesses I have in blessing Example is the joy I felt inside Escape I am to danger Exact I will be in planning Excavated are my worries Joy has made my mouth wider My shoulder higher My teeth sugar My vision clearer  Walking down the road I feel brighter And this joy made me stronger This happiness I know it’s going to last This cheerfulness will keep me going This greatness is going to be This uniqueness has become me And its closeness was brought by this day With openness of mind I will embrace the feeling By J_amaze
