Poem: Victory

Once, I saw the victory
But it ended, a mystery
Still in my memory
That’s why am full of worry
Never listening to their sorry

Cos I know it’s not the end of my journey

I kept fighting, aiming to win
All my fears I threw inside the bin
To be optimistic is not a sin
Am ready to swim without a fin
I know greatness is in my gene
And am tired of where I have been

So I step out in faith
Standing tall, maintaining my gait
Am about to break the enemy’s gate
Cos behind the walls I know my fate
This time I can never be late
Knowing I move in love and not hate

Now I can lift the trophy
My life is free of catastrophe
Am stepping in strength and might
Cos I won the fight
In happiness my life is full of light
The sight of my reward is a constant source of delight

Within the last of the tomb

Within the last of the tomb Are fresh and quick sand The hairs rough and needed comb Whom the owners sought for a land When bitterness taste like it is from honeycomb Men stood and roll their last band Not of victory but cry of a lost womb Of a child who was at hand Those left behind blasted by a bomb Their remains soon would turn manure sold for few rand Within the last of the tomb Are bodies which testify failure of a magic wand.
