Story: Show them what you got

Drake, Lissa and Banni were friends right from their childhood. They grew up in the same neighborhood and shared a common hobby, which is dancing.

During their junior high school years, they planned to take their dancing to the next level. So they signed up for Dance Rate Competition, a dancing competition, but the rules guiding the competition demand each group should not be less than 6 members. So they called an audition in their crib and selected Blaze, Mich and Donni to join their team. They practiced together and were ready for the competition.

They passed the qualification stage without stress but were kicked off at the first stage of the competition. When they came back, they could not fathom why they were kicked off because they believed they danced well. The truth of the matter was that their dancing steps depict the street and the judges were uncomfortable with it.

Not knowing what to do next, Drake who is their team leader and also their instructor advised them to go focus on their studies and pass their exams first because their exams was around the corner. He also advised them to think on the next step they should take to keep their dreams alive.

On the last day of their exams, as Drake was going back home from school, he saw a group of children skipping. People would watch them for a while and pass. This was not his first time to see them skip but he noticed how much they have advanced over the period and how much their audience had grown over the time. A thought struck him when he left the scene, “why not show the street what you got”.

When he got home, he discussed with his team and they accepted his suggestion, so they kicked off. On the first day they did not have much audience but in a week time, people would leave their normal route just to see them display cool dancing steps and stunts. The most amazing was the unison of their movement as they dance.

When school resumed, the start time of their dance was shifted from late afternoon to evening. Before they arrive the venue people would gather waiting for them to arrive. Their audience grew in such an extent that people from the neighboring city would travel from their city to watch them. Soon their normal venue could not contain their audience, so Donni’s father offered them a field which well accommodated their audience.

One day as they were dishing out their beautiful steps to the happy audience, one of the judges presiding in the Dance Rate Competition happen to be in their crib, saw the crowd and stopped his car to know what was going on. To his surprise he was able to recognize them and was surprised by how much they have advanced. He then loved and appreciated their street steps.

He waited for them to finish their show. When they were through and were packing their equipments, he met them but they could not recognize him. When they recognized him, he offered them to be part of his dancing show. In a week time they travelled abroad to dance in the judge’s show. Not only that they became famous, they were also paid heavily by the judge and others that contracted them.

Poem: Happy Day

Wow, it’s a new day And I have a lot to say Am so optimistic today Cos gone are the worries of yesterday All the grudges I lay Thinking of the upward way Excuses are now bygone Excesses I have in blessing Example is the joy I felt inside Escape I am to danger Exact I will be in planning Excavated are my worries Joy has made my mouth wider My shoulder higher My teeth sugar My vision clearer  Walking down the road I feel brighter And this joy made me stronger This happiness I know it’s going to last This cheerfulness will keep me going This greatness is going to be This uniqueness has become me And its closeness was brought by this day With openness of mind I will embrace the feeling By J_amaze
